Redundancy and gas planning, navigation, deploying a buoy and problem solving in open water.
We talk about your motivation, your typical dive sites and your experience so far. We then look at your configuration. An additional gas supply only counts as a reserve if you can reach it, operate it and use it under load.
You plan the dive using your own gas consumption, switch to the redundant gas supply, deploy a buoy and practise a controlled abort. Buoyancy and orientation must be maintained throughout.
The certification does not make every dive suitable for solo diving. Weather, visibility, depth, how you feel on the day and an unfamiliar dive site can all argue against going alone. Special rental equipment is priced firmly before booking.
